    College Bowl Record (1-2)

COLORADO STATE RAMS +3 @ NAVY MIDSHIPMEN
Colorado St. (6-5, 5-3 MWC) at Navy (7-4. 4-2 home)

Perhaps it is fitting that the first Poinsettia Bowl features teams meeting for the first time.

Navy will oppose Colorado State for the first time in the inaugural Poinsettia Bowl at Qualcomm Stadium.
Navy (7-4) claimed its third straight Commander-in-Chief's Trophy with a 42-23 triumph over Army on December 3.

Senior quarterback Lamar Owens ran for 99 yards and three touchdowns and sophomore fullback Adam Ballard rushed for 192 yards and two TDs for the Midshipmen, who defeated the Black Knights for a fourth straight year. Navy rushed for 490 yards - the most by a team in the rivalry - in the win.

With a victory, Navy would have 18 wins over a two-year span, tying the school record.

Navy is playing in a third straight bowl game for the first time. The Midshipmen lost to Texas Tech in the Houston Bowl in 2003, 38-14, but posted a 34-19 win over New Mexico in the Emerald Bowl last year.

Colorado State (6-5) had lost back-to-back games before concluding its regular season with a 31-27 triumph at UNLV on November 19.

Justin Holland threw for 2,804 yards and 20 touchdowns and Kyle Bell rushed for 1,166 yards and nine TDs in the regular season for the Rams, who are making their ninth bowl appearance in 12 seasons and 12th overall.

Colorado State played in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego three times between 1994-97. The Rams have lost their last two bowls since a 45-20 triumph over North Texas in the 2001 New Orleans Bowl.
