  • NFL Playoffs: Jacksonville @ New England

    Jax @ Pats -8

First I think its a big advantage for NE to be playing @ Foxboro at nite in the cold weather against a warm weather team like Jax. The Jags have played 3 times @ Foxboro and dropped all 3 more recently in 12/03 losing 27 -13.

This game is real tough for me. First the line appears really inflated. It opened at -7 and seen -8.5 now stands at -8. My problem is TB just a few weeks back was only -4.5 and the NYJ a month ago were -10. The only time Jax was a big dog away was @ Indy early on losing 10-3 but after that they never played a tough road game except for at Pitt but Ward and Big Ben both sat out!!! They are largely untested especailly when it comes to tarveling then you factor in 3 defensive players with various injuries. They lost Adrius early on and even lost there center about a month ago. How will he play in a playoff game at Foxboro?? The Jags really played some poor teams on the road....@ STL with Jaime Martin and LOST , @ Tenny , @ Arizona , @ Cleveland , and @ Houston. That was in the second half after earlier OT wins vs both NY and Pitt who were playing at less then 100%(Pennington was done that game). Really since the BYE this team played 1 good football team and lost to Indy despite a last ditch effort and backdoor. Now that I think about it though werent they 8.5 pt dogs at home to Indy????? I believe they were so that has me thinking maybe this line ISNT inflated.

Down the stretch the Pats defense got Bruschi and Seymour back healthy and into the flow again. They really shut down NYJ , Buffalo and TB in a 3 game strecth that actually reached into the 4th quarter of the second NYJ meeting. Last weks game didnt mean much IMO to NE . They had guys inactive and Brady played a quarter.

Really I see a Jacksonville team playing with a QB in Leftwich who hasnt played in 6 weeks. You remember how bad Big Ben looked @ Indy after 3 weeks off , or Kyle Boller when he returned @ Jacksonville. Does anyone remeber how poorly Chad Pennington played last year in his 1st game or two when he returned from injurt? This is a real bad spot to come back. Now factor his starting center i missing and his RB's Taylor and Jones have hobbled to the finish line.

I have a hard time believeing that Jax have a realistic shot at winning this game. Its the freezing cold of Foxboro in December!! This is NE Patriot heaven!! So its now a matter of if they cant win will the points matter. To be honest I really dont know!! I would take NE at below 7 pts but not sure if I would at -7 rather buy 6.5 to 6. Its just such a hard game. You cant get a real feel for NE as everyone has missed time but they now appear to all be healthy. Honestly I could see JAgs hanging a 3 spot and thats it. They couldnt do much vs Indy at home to the last few minutes and this team today resembles the team that played Indy at home. Notthe one that played @ Indy early or hosted Cincy...to many injured players missing. It will be real interestingto see how the change at center affects Leftwich here along with agetting a feel for the ball after 6 weeks. Touch is something that is tough to regain after any layoff and factor the cold weather somewhat hindering him.

Right Now I am thinking this is a repeat of the TB game BUT I cant lay so many points in a playoff game. So waiting to see where this ends up.

Again, will post finalized plays before kickoff
