I thought it was boring at parts and the dialogue was way too technical and wordy. The action was cool, but that's it. There should've been more action.

I agree with beefcake. Me and sana thought it was ok but nothing great. We seem to be few an far betweem though because everyone else seems to love this movie.

For me it came down to one thing. Too much talking and only about 5 minutes of actual action the whole movie. Not what it advertises itself to be.

I thought it was great not because of the action scenes but the idea of how goverments use different ways to control people by putting fear in them. Here is the funny or ironic part depends how you look at it, day after I saw that movie England terorist bust happened and with in minutes somebody tried to break in to an airplanes cockpit with some liquid in their hands with no sucsess and of course plain landed safely I think it landed in Quatar airport, so anyways I immediately tought conspiracy. I mean c'mon look at it this way goverment wins again. We can't even take a bottle of water to the airport any more and you don't hear anything about those terorist either.
          What happened to them?
I know this is gonna open a can of worms, but...oh well. :nerdnew:

Damn - I guess I was one of the few who actually loved the plot-line and the dialogue etc. I could have enjoyed the movie just as much without the fight scenes as I did with them included. The ideas about "liberty or death" were very well thought out and the political defiance was genius - it fit our current state of affairs perfectly - though I honestly believe it was also showing us how sad it is that history constantly repeats itself yet we never seem to learn...

Also, the very first fight scene is followed by some of the best dialogue I have heard in years in a movie - and it all revolved around the word V - brilliant IMO....

You, my friend, seem to one of the few that 'got it'. The political parallels throughout the movie are uncanny. The movie was much more than an action film. Perhaps those who believe it to be a flawed attempt at an action movie should stick to Bruce Willis-style plots. The movie is about what happens when a people relinquish their liberties and freedoms in pursuit of safety and security. To quote, Richard Jackson: "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

When a movie is advertised as an action film, that is what I want to see. I got the movie just fine as you seem to think that you are the only one smart enough to understand it. It's fine to have a movie all about "Political parallels" but at least advertise it as such. I would have went and seen it and I would have been ready to see a movie about that topic.

P.S. Dont talk down to people. Dont imply that because someone does not like the same as you that somehow that makes them dumb and they should stick to "Bruce Willis" movies.

V was an interesting character in my opinion. After about 20 mins into it, I realized it was Mr. Smith from The Matrix. Then my mind went in that direction for a while, but I liked the way he used the words. The idea behind the story I liked. A government manipulating fear in order to maintain society.. Reminded me of something about Hitler. I did like the fact that V wanted the government to fear the people and the chaos that V created leading up to that was cool. I didn't like some of the english characters like the P.M, or the guy on the TV doing the show. But blowing up Parliament was cool.

I watch a lot of movies and some I watch a couple of times to see if there is things I miss. Being a broke bachelor at times has its advantages if you like movies. I download all of the movies I watch (of course I pay, never would I bootleg a movie). I have opinions, I'm sure people will disagree, but I do think about the movies, the characters, the story line, if it keeps my attention, and so on.

I think that I can come up with a more recent/current situation that may better parallel this movies attempts - after all - it is set "in the [near] future" and even alludes to current events...
