  • Governor Schwarzenegger Recuperating after Skiing Accident

(AP) - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (Sun Valley, Idaho) - Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger broke his leg in a skiing accident in Sun Valley, Idaho on Saturday morning, while on a Christmas getaway with wife Maria Shriver and their four children.

The break is in the right femur, one of the sturdiest bones in the body.

The 59-year old governor, a former body-builder and movie star, was taken for X-rays, but the leg was not put into a cast, according to his office.

Schwarzenegger is expected to spend the holiday weekend at the resort, and then come home to Los Angeles to have surgery.

Schwarzenegger has a home at a celebrity-dense resort in the Sawtooth Mountains where one of the expert runs, "Arnold's Run," is named for him.

No one else was involved in the accident, which happened while the governor was skiing with an old friend and former ski instructor, Adi Erber.

In January, Schwarzenegger was riding his Harley-Davidson, with 12-year old son Patrick in the sidecar, when he struck a car on a road in Brentwood.

He split his upper lip and needed 15 stitches in that incident.
