  • What is with people to affraid to call a friend...?

Just a little vent of mine in regards to a pet peeve. Why is it that people won't call first or return a call when there are possible plans involved? I have been becoming friends with a girl at work with a 3 year old. We had talked about taking our kids to the zoo next month. Today she was going to be spending the evening by her self since her son would be with his father. So we talked about meeting up then so she could meet my wife. I told her I would call her Sunday morning to finalize things if she still wanted to meet up. Well I call in the morning, just left a voice mail to call me back when she got a chance (about 9am). Finally about 2:30pm I hadn't heard from her and decided to call to see if we were going to plan dinner at home or if she still wanted to meet up. Got voice mail. I don't understand why people are so disrespectful to just ignore the phone when they know people are trying to keep themselves available for possible plans. If she had something come up, why can't she just tell us she would have to reschedule, or something. At least this way we can plan our day accordingly. I find that people do this all the time and it's not the fact that they change plans (especially when they weren't finalized), it's the disrespect of leaving people hanging.

i hate it when people agree to come over and you plan for them being there and then no phone call or notice that they are not...and these are good friends of ours. but I agree shib....people now don't have "Friend" respect...

The most frustrating part this time was that the plans weren't even finalized. So she wasn't even committed to anything yet. But still can't let us know one way or the other.

its happend to me a few times, as a result i dont wait up on people anymore. I just let them know once and thats it, and if they never called and i started whatever without them, when they call me or ask me about it, I tell them "I called and u knew about it so...dont complain".

Well I will admit, I am pretty bad at this. I dont call people back. Its not to be disrespectful, I just have a problem calling people back, not sure what it is. Hell, I dont even check my voice mail, I have like 10 messages on my cell voice mail that I have not listed too. If people call and I am there, I will answer though.

Then again, If I have plans to do something, I would not leave the other person hanging like that.

Unless I have plans with someone my phone is no more than a pager - leave a message and I'll get back to you when I have time - not a fan of phones...

That's how I am too - I would never leave someone hanging because that's incredibly rude and disrespectful, but I don't like calling people back for some weird reason. I have cell messages that I haven't listened to - don't even know who they're from.....

Yes - especially if there's more than one. Even my home voicemail has messages I haven't listened to. It's like if I didn't "see" who called, then I don't want to listen to it....
