    Maryland (-7.5) versus Clemson

Maryland is 11-1 ATS as a home favorite under coach Ralph Friedgen and there is no real reason to buck that trend here. Clemson has come to life a bit offensively in their last couple of games since returning to the no-huddle offense and they are now averaging a solid 5.5 yards per play in Division 1A games (against teams that allow 5.2 yppl) this season. However, Maryland has a good defensive unit again this year (4.5 yppl allowed to teams that average 5.1 yppl) and they should be able to handle the Tigers attack. Maryland’s offense has come to life in their last two games also, averaging 6.6 yppl in a 34-7 home win against a defensively solid West Virginia team and tallying 7.5 yppl last week against an Eastern Michigan team that allows 6.6 yppl on defense for the season. Clemson’s defense is nothing special, giving up 5.1 yppl to teams that average 5.2 yppl on offense, so the Terrapins should be able to post a pretty good number on their side of the scoreboard. Overall, my math model favors Maryland by 6 ½ points, so the line is about right. But, the Terps’ home favorite record will get me leaning their way in this game despite their thin backfield (Perry questionable and Maldonado out).
