Okay, so you made a judgment call. It ended up being wrong and you basically reinforced the idea to another American that he is being discriminated against because of his race.

What is your reasoning behind not telling your kids? Isn't there a lesson to your kids that most Muslims aren't here to kill them?

I guess, to my earlier point, that is my biggest problem. Don't you, kind of, feel like an ass for jumping to that conclusion and not even explaining it to the guy who probably has the same fears and concerns for his own child?

I just don't see how we can ever achieve some progress when most Americans hold the same belief system you do.

i didnt tell my kids because they are just that . kids !! -- to many adults these days put there kids on the same level as themselves - its why you see so much disrespect by todays youth -

but who is to say his decision was wrong? its all a matter of opinion and if you havnt been in that position you cant judge. his priorities are his children and no matter what other people think he is gonna do what he thinks is right regardless of how others see it.

The only thing that matters is perception. I can see his point of view. Worst case scenario is not pretty. It is highly unlikely, but worrisome none the less. I don't have children (nor do i plan to ever have them), so i have no idea what was going through his head. Once you are a parent, your life becomes the child's life. He felt his daughter was threatened, so he did what he beleived was right. That is all that matters for him, what he beleives. Who are you or me to judge him for what he did when he felt his daughter's life was threatened.

On the other hand, it could set a negative example by teaching his daughter intolerance. But he has to balance the example versus his daughter's safety. In his mind her safety far outweighs setting an example. You were not in his situation, you have not lived his life, you don't know what he has been through. So don't judge. You are jumping to conclusions right now as you beleive he did then. Keep an open mund and try to see his point of view. You will be surprised what you can learn when you step back from the situation and look at it objectively,

Seriously guys, he was concerned with his child. He did what he thought was right to protect his family. On the same hand, he needs to think about the example he is setting for his child. It goes both ways. There is no real right or wrong here. Tolerance is needed, but so is security. The question is how to balance the two. Everyone will have their own opinion based on the situation
