So, since it's summer time, I thought I'd warn you all of this...
I made a key lime pie for my dad & husband on Sunday for Father's Day. I squeezed like 6 limes for the juice, and had to zest 3 of them...Soon after, we all went to the pool, and then back to my house for dinner.
Well, I wake up Monday morning with a little bit of a sunburn..but nothing major. As the day progresses, I have these little bumps starting to pop up on my left hand, and a pretty big red patch on my right hand..
Yesterday, in some areas it's starting to blister, so I get in to see my dermatologist. First thing he says to me when he looks at it "Have you been squeezing limes?" WTF?!?!?! SO, I said "yes"...
Apparently, the acid in the lime juice AND the zest from limes is like a magnifying glass on your skin if you go out in the sun right after. So, I have a very bad sunburn caused from limes!!! Moral of the story: make sure you scrub down if you're going out in the sun!
