They are referring to when it finally runs out of charge cycles and completely dies. I would think most gamers would upgrade their controller due to some other reason long before the battery dies.

the controller will last as long as any ipod or iphone with a "sealed battery". its a stupid ass point.

Not unless you keep it plugged into the ps3 while you play constantly. Great way to overcharge the battery and kill it off.

to be fair I buy those solid battery rechargeables for the XBox and they only take so many re charges, on peice of advice, batteries have memories so run them till flat before recharging if you can, if you have two controllers then as one begins to die leave it on but use the other and leave the original to bleed out then recharge it completely.
