and that is just the straight line discussion.

if you think that stock 69 camaro can compare in any way shape or form around a proper track with the 370 you have lost your marbles.
Well obvioulsy; I never argued that. I argued that not all muscles cars were just straight line performers some were built to take the corners. And you cannot prove that point wrong

I would like to see the lap times of the older cars but they did not keep records then.

when you say some were built to take corners do you mean stock from the factory or do you mean from tuners?

Some models of the original Camaro's were built to handle such as the Z/28 with the 302, now the SS with a 396 were just built to go fast straight; but I mean back in the day they only had 6 inch wide bias ply tires; technology was only so far developed.

ahh ok. well i thank you for the debate, i did learn a few things.

now what about that camaro race car link that you posted. i still hold that even though it can go around a track that it would not beat the R8 V10. what you think? :P

            R8 V10 Specs

            (525 hp) @ 8000 rpm
            (390.91 lb-ft) @ 6500 rpm
            (0-60 mph) 3.8 seconds
            Top Speed (196.35 mph)

            All Wheel Drive

            Curb Weight 3571 lbs.

(Remember top speed doesn't matter because we are talking about a proper track, neither car would get up to the top speed)

and yes i understand that the camaro race car in that link you posted earlier has a lot more HP but i dont believe that it can put the power down like the All Wheel Drive audi can and i dont think it can take the corners at the same speed.

any thoughts? wannabeabeast you faggot what you got to say?

That camaro is full on race car; not even in the same league. it's like bringing a brand new corvette to race against f1 cars.

No stupid what he meant was camaro would be the F1 car and R8 would be the corvette.
Reason I posted that Nascar cars racing on the track was because that 69 camaro is build with the exact same components as those nascar road racing cars so yes that camaro will beat that R8.

OMG I can't believe how the tight remit of the of the initial argument got splayed to include drag cars, bugatti's. Someone will post a rocket next and then a bullet, the only acceleration I'm impressed with is the rate with which this thread went all to shit!

You guys could argue with yourselves alone in a phone box lol!

Yes but did you notice it funneled back to the original argument at the end; like full circle. It's really a thing of beauty lol.

none the less my 370 completely stock will do 0 to 60 In 4.6 sec. and the Quarter Mile in 13.1 sec. at 106.7 MPH
DZ 302 rated at 290 and yes it made closer to 400 @5800 rpm and so the numbers are as u asked ..0-60 6.9 and the sprint went by at about 14.85@101-105. top speed aprox 140mph with the right gearing and while the sprint number dont add up we can add that up to as mentioned (no tire technology). glad there are some gear heads here:)
