People out there blame genetics when they don't give 110% to diet or training or just plain don't have the will to win.

Think of it this way....

Someone builds you a brand new gym, fitted with all necessary equipment, they give you money so you can afford to train, they supply you with supplements and gear, and they send a doctor and a trainer around once a month to check on your health and educate you on proper form and nutrition.

Ten years later you're still small and weak. And what's even worse is now you're raising your kids to be lazy and weak too.

Who do you blame?

you speak from a point of view of luxury. you live in a castle compared to what those kids have. you have the gift of education, you have food in your stomach. my point again is that its easy to speak about what these people are doing wrong as a society when you have never been through it..

of course i'm going to see it from a different point of view because i have a history which affects me all the time. the point i'm trying to get across is that in most african countries (and this point of view isn't my own but someone who lived and worked under an oppressive power, specifically in Burkina Faso) is that no matter how much the people of a country try to get out from the cycle of oppression and poverty that the power will always win because of the amount of control it has. when you entire life is dependent on whether or not you give in to the rule of a horrible ruler then you're going to do what is best for your family, whether it be barely getting by or not getting by at all.

my "source" is a man who worked as a guard in the army in Burkina Faso and had to escape the country to move here. he had to "divorce" his wife because she was too afraid of the consequences of leaving and getting caught.

the reason why i cite "learned helplessness" is because when, no matter what you do a power stronger than you will punish you, you learn to be helpless and give in.

i know what you're saying is that we can sit in our A/C'd homes and talk about world politics all the time, but the point i am trying to make is that we are trying to understand the situation.
