I always said for years I would never have a child. Swore up and down throughout my early to mid twenties. As I got older I started to think about it and was like well you know if i have one I do, if I don't I don't.

Well now having a child I wouldn't change it for the world. I love the little guy to death and I will for the rest of my life.

I'm not saying you will change your mind like I did, but you have to realize that this isn't 100% and it can also be reversed. I have heard plenty of stories where the procedure reversed itself with an ok doctor doing it and that stuff has been left in the chamber and bam.

Now with your mindset as it is now, you definitely should not have kids which I can actually say thank you for not bringing a child into this world. Too many people don't realize what a job it is to have a kid and how you cannot be selfish at all.

If I were you I would hold off on the procedure and just wear protection. And if in a few years you still have the same mindset and find a girl who wants the same thing then go for it.

It has been three years since I first went. He told me to wait a year. Went back a year later, and again the same thing.

He require me to freeze some sperm before he would agree to perform the surgery. I did so, and now am heading forward

You're getting fixed? How old are you? I guess for some people, they really don't want kids; and you're one of them:)

If you don't mind me asking; why don't you want kids?

Several reasons. First, genetics on both sides of my family are fucked. Addiction, autism, depression and suicide are on my paternal and maternal sides. And schizophrenia is on one side.

Further, I know the way I drive myself forward (my addictive personality which allows no moderation) I would drive my children the same way. As well, I am extremely selfish with my time. While I do quite a bit of volunteer work, I can come and go as I please. A child is a 24/7 proposition that I do not believe my personality could undertake and remain healthy.

Lastly, the money issue. My parents grew up poor, married poor, declared bankruptcy, and divorced poor. I will never struggle as they have. A child in my over-rationale mind is a $15,000 per year investment (minimum) that has not benefit on my end. With the career path I am on, the money will come as well as a time commitment. I could not be a proper father.

That being said, I can see why people want to be parents. I could see it be fufilling as my speeches to high school students and work with abused and neglected children is fufilling. But I love the "me" time I have.
