Yea still love the sub and the 2 Polk audio speakers. They can and will blow your fucken ears out before they blow themselves out.

Well. If you buy a $1500 TV, you should spend twenty bucks for the cal disc at least. It's like getting good performance tires for your car. The pro setup is like an exhaust or suspension mod- worth it if you are worried about ultimate performance, not required for most people.

That 10 minute setup is just bullshit. A real pro setup involves then dragging in a color meter and other specialized equipment to set it up and will set you back a couple hundred bucks at least. Worth it if you are a movie buff interested in accurate color reproduction "the way the director intended it to look." Otherwise, a calibration disc is more than adequate.

Damn..what ever happened to plug it in and watch it. As much money as there is spent on these things..ya shouldn't have to go thru all that I would think???:wack:

LOL I never knew they had disks to set up your TV. I might have to get one. The install guy set mine up but it only took him 10mins I bet its all generic settings noting fine tuned.

I had downloaded a file from an avs forum but can't recall which one. That Disney one scrum mentioned has great reviews and sounds very simple to use.

A setup disc does wonders for your picture quality. I gr the Disney World of Wonder disc. You can get it off Amazon. That's a pretty cost effective way to kick the picture quality up a notch. You can also pay a professional to come out with their equipment and set your TV up just right. The guys on the HT forums swear by it but unless you are a hardcore movie freak, it is probably overkill.

The fine tuning capabilities of the sharp are overwhelming. Unless you do a lot of homework or have a good knowledge of what each option does you will most likely end up having to reset to default over and over again because when you change one advanced setting it nullifies another. It's so time consuming. Calibration discs are a must, imo. In the end it's the best place to start. Then you can do little tweaks from that saved reference point.

I'll get the disc! I'm always trying different settings. The clarity of the picture is amazing! I just would like it to be a little more vibrant.

got rid of the center channel and surrounds and just have a 2.1 system. 2 powerful speakers and a good sub and you would be surprised at how amazing it sounds during movies an music. looks a lot clear too.

Unless you are watching a good movie, you are typically only using 2.1 anyhow.
