Steroid drug for muscular dystrophy

"In the study, normal mice with a muscle injury received steroids just before injury and for two weeks after the injury.* Mice receiving two weekly doses of steroids after the injury performed better on treadmill testing and had stronger muscle than mice receiving a placebo.

Mice that received daily steroids for two weeks after the muscle injury performed poorly on the treadmill and in muscle strength studies, compared to placebo-treated mice."

Seems like this drug is good for short term on humans with a weekly doses...

Taking steroids less often could 'fix' muscles - Futurity

I know this is an old post but I want to point out that prednisone is a cortico-steroid; not an anabolic steroid. It's action is actually catabolic (opposite of anabolic). Corticosteroids are powerful anti-inflamatory drugs with serious side effects even under a doctor's care.

Yeah, my son has a prescription in case his asthma flares up. It's a corticosteroid. I am dubious about its bodybuilding value.

It has no bodybuilding value. It is CATABOLIC. That means it breaks down muscle; not builds it up. Additionally, it causes bucu water retention and other bad sides at extended dosages.

Not sure how I missed this post, but yeah, the above three responses are correct. Anabolic and cortico---huge difference.

Only way I can see it being anabolic is if it takes away the pain that was impeding progress in the gym thus allowing you to lift normal again. Anabolic by proxy in that case.
