brutal truth is this.

you either have calves or you don't. it's one of those body parts that totally relies on genetics and no amount of training or drugs will do a thing of you weren't gifted in the first place. this is obvious on an Olympia stage. absolute monsters have twig calves. hint, it's not because they don't train them or use enough drugs. mike matarazzo or dorian would have had insane calves regardless of training or drugs. i've seen fat fucks who never been to a gym in their life with better calves then Mr Olympia. you can't say that about any other bodt part.

so to address your post. your calves are worked every single day by walking. they are a muscle group used to be trained all the time. personally i like to train them heavy once per week. calves are not used to heavy high intensity training. that's how I look at it.

Remember how Arnold changed his though

There is another side too, in one of the guns I got to there are guys with 20 inch calves but there is one guy who’s calves are maybe 17 or a bit more. But they are like perfect diamonds, I would like those calves so even if I can’t make mine bigger then I’d like them better

Also mine suffered slot of atrophy from that injury and haven’t really come back properly

My arms are 18 19 inch, my calves are 15.5 and 16 lol

I genetically have small calfs, they measure near 17" right now. But for your size, I'd say yea that's small bro.

Seen a skinny ass asian in the gym with the biggest calves i ever seen. And all he does its treadmill. Asians are known for genetic calves. Calves are overrated its the quads and hammies that matter

That's because I've worked them to that size.

Proportional wise, my calfs are small to my quads.

I like my calfs, but I don't love them and wish they were more fit to my quads.

I just measured my calves because of the thread. Never thought about it before. They are just over 17" and I never train them. Every So often at the end of leg presses I will do a couple extensions. I'm sure playing soccer my entire life has helped but I wouldn't say I have large calves either.

Mine are about 17 but I have barely ever worked them. It's genetic. Taller guys always have shit calves.

I think it's crazy Brian Shaw's are 22" and he wants them bigger lol. I guess relative to his height they must look average.

I'm the opposite, I need to train them.

Relative to my quads, they're small. I've got those runner calfs. My bulk is more inner rather than someone who has nice complete calves

I started doing them twice weekly and in month or two if not seeing results I'll go for 3 times per week. Always stubborn muscles.

My calves looked so skinny in my early years that my first two pieces of equipment in my personal gym were a standing and a seated calf raise machines.

Mine are 15.5 inches, I don't need to train them. Only 5' 8, so they're pretty good size.

Genetically blessed with big calves but my arms grow so slowly it's unbearable! Currently, 14.5 inches, so another inch to add to them.

Would you rather have naturally big calves or arms, considering growing calves seems to be pretty hard by all accounts???

I've always tried to keep my biceps and calves similar size for proportion and symmetry. I was always passionate about calf training because they were so pathetic. I think most guys would pick big arms because arms are often exposed and easier to see.

Not being an ass, but that IS small. I was that same size and that is my height. Now my calves are 16.5...not big, but definitely not 15.5 anymore.

Unless you have no quads, then yes your calves will look ok.

But that size is small, period.
