  • Knee Pain?

I have been squatting for about 20 some years and have never had knee pain.Lately, I have had pain right above the patella where the quad tendon inserts. I am icing after squats and wrapping for heavy sets. Is there anything that Im not doing that might help? I am 9 weeks from show and dont want this to slow down my training........Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions....DZ

I had the same problem, right between the knee cap and the tear drop. I had to take a couple weeks of from squats, and gradually work myself back up in weight. Now I wrap them when I go heavy. Also how well do you stretch before training, get some blood in them ie. leg extensions. I feel for you it hurts like a bitch, I had it in both knees.

        I do leg curls

Before any leg presses or extensions. The biggest cause of knee problems is unequal strength betwen the quads and hams. Leg curls will warm up and strengthen that area and provide a "cushioning effect" during squats or leg presses if you get a pump in hams. Anyway this has worked for me .

Get a Rx for Vioxx 50 mg a day for a week and then 25 mg a day for another week, you may also need to back off a bit on squats and lunges until the inflammation subsides. BSH
