  • MUST GAIN MUSCLE MASS...

Hey Yall, I am newbie... Been doings lots of research of bulking and what not. But still have some simple questions for the more expirenced body builders. Is it possible to gain 15 pounds of muscle mass in 4 months? I will be trying my best to eat 6 meals a day. With high protien and unsat. fat. I weigh 160 and am 5'9, 17 years of age. I am assuming I will need around 3000 calories a day? I will be taking creatine and multivitamins as my supplements. I want to stay natural. I am focusing on building my upper body. Arms, chest mostly. I will workout probably 3 times a week for about an hour and half. One day chest and tris. Next back and bis. Then abs. Please someone more intellegent in this subject critique this for me. And most importantly if I am focused and put the effort in can I gain 15 pounds of muscle mass in 4 months. Thanks a lot.

Why dont add a 4th day and work you legs also. A split like this would not be to bad
    Day1: Chest, tris, and abs
    Day2: Back abd bis
    Day3: Shoulders, traps, and abs
    Day4: Legs and calves
Why do you want a huge upper body with chicken legs? It just doesn't look right. Just my 02.

this should be in the training forum but YOU MUST WORK YOUR LEGS. it will help you put on overall size. your legs make up more than half your bodyweight. and as far as adding 15 pounds of muscle that depends on your training experience. unless you are a newbie to training (within the first 6 months) then I don't think that is possible natural. gaining 5 pounds in a year is an accomplishment training natural (i am talking 5 LEAN pounds).

It is certain that instense leg work brings over all size to the trunk of the body and allows for a better base to build an upper body on. Do not ignore this advice, these guys know what they are talking about.

Rather than targeting an amount of calories, just eat as much as you can split fairly balanced between carbs and protein. Then, measure it one day and make sure you are hitting at least your 3000 cals. If you can eat more, though, then do so, Thor...

Bro, when in one year when i was 16 i started lifting.....i was 5'4" 110lbs.....i went to 5'6" 162 with 8%bf in one year....all natural (creatine,hmb,l-glutamine, 3 protein shakes a day)....just started stuffing my face nonstop......i actually purposely loaded up on carbs and i kept up with the cardio.....your metabolism is prob so fast right now u can handle just about any type of diet as long as you add some cardio. Its def possible to do what you are talking about though.....have fun gettin jacked.

Wouldn't cardio, make me burn to many calories resulting in no gains? And would you consider boxing a cardio workout?

boxing in my opinion is great cardio, especially if running or bikes get boring for you. you won't burn TOO many calories as long as you keep your calories and protein high throughout the day. and just like everyone said DON'T NEGLECT YOUR LEGS!
