  • Looks like I blew my syno conversion...

To make a long story short, got a decent amount of prop, dried it in the oven for a couple hours, then mixed it at 100mg/ml.

The stuff just will NOT clear. I shook the shit out of it, heated it in boiling water, heated it in the microwave, then even heated it in the oven at around 210 degrees for an hour.

Can't figure out what I did wrong. Wonder if I can salvage this somehow.

Sounds like it may just be a little wet. Is the oil just cloudy? Filtering through the whatman doesn't clear it up, right? It sounds like there was still a little water in it. That will cause the cloudy appearance and it doesn't take a lot of water to do that. It won't hurt anything though. I'd say it is probably fine.

Can you get a hold of anhydrous magnesium sulfate? If so, you can test my theory by taking a mL of your oil in some small containor and add maybe 100mg MgSO4. Swirl it around a little and allow the MgSO4 to sink to the bottom. Take up the oil in a syringe; is it clear now? MgSO4 takes out the water and should make it clear.
