  • Iron Levels TOO High--Anybody in the know?

I just got back from my annual Phys. and all was great, except for the first time in my life, my iron levels were too high. Too much iron can cause big problems. I have eaten practically the same foods and amounts, supplements, etc. for years--no changes, and I ALWAYS eat clean. I do 200mgs test Enanthate/wk-(BTG) year round, except when cycling when I do 400mgs/wk, plus 20 mgs Anavar-(BTG). I stay light. I am currently NOT on a cycle and have NO clue how my iron levels could be high. Anybody got any ideas, my Doc doesn't really offer any info? BB

Are you taking a multivitamin tha has Iron in it? If so, get one w/o the iron, noone should be taking additional iron supps except lactating women.

Are you/have you been eating a lot of red meat lately?

Maybe post your diet and ALL supps you take so we can better help you...

What did the doc say, did he advise you to do anything for it?

I take Lindburg Mega One multi vitamin which has no iron. All my other supplements are iron free, I checked them all. The only thing different is the protein powder I use. I had for many years used Weider's 90+ protein powder, but they stopped making it. I switched to Optimum Nutrition's Pro Complex. BUT, I am drinking three mixes a day of Muscle Milk which DOES have some iron in it. It states that it provides 33% of you MDR of iron. I eat red meat twice a week only as I have for years. Think the Muscle Milk could be the problem? It seems to be such a small amount, but I guess it could take it over the edge. Damn, I hate that, I love that stuff. BB

Yeah bro, I don't know. That might be the culprit, actually thats all that I can think of. But heck during a bulk, I drink 8 glasses of milk/day and take ZMA at night on top of that for sleep, and I've never had a problem. I dunno if the muscle milk may have more than regualr milk? Actually :) I don't even know if regualr whole milk has enough in it to even be regarded to be mentioned.

Your doc didn't say anything that you could do for it?

Beer has a lot of iron. Especially Guiness.

Yea, the doc is going to check me again in 3 months and if it is still high, there is a medication you can take to lower. Evidently it can be serious. I had a blood test about 4 months ago and it was normal then and the only thing different in my diet and supplements is the Muscle Milk. I checked about the beer thing, I usually drink Michelob or Coor's light, and they don't mention iron, but haven't had a beer in two months. Weird. BB

give blood as far as i know its the only way a man can get rid of iron. and why women have to take iron and dont have to give blood.

Two things besides the Muscle Milk...

                    1. High iron can signal the risk of diabetes but I am sure your doc would have mentioned that.

                    2. Have you moved recently or do you drink more tap water? If so, check with your town water and/or use a Filter, such as a PUR filter.

If it is the Muscle Milk then that SUCKS. I love that stuff too!!!

                    Cheers! :)
