  • Q about hair loss

Whats up guys, I have a quick question about the use of finisteride for hair loss. Is it necessary to be on finisteride for an extended period of time in order to reduce the conversion to DHT? Or does it work to stop the DHT conversion wihtin a short period of taking an initial dose? I am not looking to regrow any ahir, just keep what I have, so I didn't really want to take it for an extended period, just while I am on if possible. Thanks

From my own experience and from what i've read, it takes a couple of months to start noticing any results.

You have to take it every day continuously...it's not meant to be a short-term fix. It's something you decide to do to protect your hair for life...from MPB, not just as a 'steroid shield'.

There is some evidence that Nizoral shampoo provides a shield against DHT at the hair roots, so you might want to try using that instead.

I have already been using Nizoral shampoo, I also am genetically prone to MPB, it is on both side of my family so I just decided recently to begin taking 1/4 tab of a Proscar ed, so 1.25mg ed.

Hopefully I don't get any of the sides that are uncommon but still possible, with my luck I will get all of them.
