i just got my hands on some Butyric Acid. Is that the same as "butyrolactone"? If it is, all I need to know is how to convert it into "gamma-butyrolactone" I have some equiptment and everythging......does anyone know?

nobody knows how to convert it into the "gamma" version?......I think this Chem forum dosent get enough traffic......can anybody point me in the right direction? maybe a synthesis? -
You are dealing with two completly different compounds. I can see no easy way of converting the acid to a cyclic compound. You really need the butyrolactone for the GHB sysnthisis. Unfortunatly many suppliers don't carry it anymore and it has become difficult to find.Last edited by candle25; 04-22-04, 06:22 AM.Comment
