Mrs. Rhinosaurus - thanks for you post. Your response was very insightful. The close family members have been clouded by these variables that might not ever have an answer. I have been trying to learn more about it so I could possibly ease their grief. Thanks again.

great post. thank you.Originally posted by Rhinosaurus
Sorry for your loss. This thread was pointed out to me by my husband who thought I could have some words to help you understand. First let me tell you I am a nursing student and I work as a student nurse on a cardiac unit. I also understand athletics and the use of steriods and how they affect the body. First let me assure you steriods were not the direct cause of his injury and or his high blood pressure. They can elevate a persons blood pressure but generally not to dangerous levels. Prolonged use and a lack of knowledge of how to use them can lead to cholesterol, lipid, liver, and blood sugar issues. I have no knowledge of your freinds past history or his family history but I would have to guess he had some familiar history that made him more prone to this condition. Basically your freind had what is called an anyeurism ( a weakening of the artery wall). John Ritter died of the same thing it was a freak accident unfortunatly some times these things just are not detected in time. Your family member may or may not have had high blood pressure prior to the rupture. I would just wonder if he had any symptoms before the flu like symptoms you described like heart burn, back pain, head ache (from high blood pressure)? John Ritter had no symptoms eighter before the day he passed and they said he had just had a physical. Unfortunatly these things just happen and even the most efficant physicans misses these things not for the lack of looking eighter. In fact my own grandfather had one and went to a physical and just mentioned at the time he had some back pain were they found an aortic anyurism and took him to surgery where it ruptured luckily for him he was on the table and they could repair him. Unfortunaly due to a lack of knowledge of the general public steriods are going to be the blame for your family members unfortunate death. I would be inclined to beleive he had been walking around with the condition for a while and had some history that predisposed him to it and when these things go they just go.
Athletic, sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family.

My condolences go out to you and your entire family. Death is always a very sad situation and you and your family as well as your loved one will be in my prayers. As far as the AS aspect goes, I think everyone above answered the question. May God be with you in your time of sorrow.

So a guy who knows nothing about steroids somehow finds Superior Muscle and starts a post called "Steroids, a fatal story" and expects us to believe him? His post was so filled with medical errors and sensationalism. Think about it guys. With a ruptured aorta, you go fast without any "flu-like" symptoms. "They could feel his heart beat touching his shoulder." Give me a fucking break. This was total BS.

I wish I was making it all up, do I ever. If you want to look for holes in what I said, then go right ahead. I don't know the whole story, only God does. But that's why I posted here, to get any information more experienced people might have...and many people have brought up some great points. Watching death and its effects is a very hard experience that reminds a person how precious their own life is. It makes your nitpicking seem foolish to me. I hope you are happy one day.Originally posted by PointCove

I guess its that time again, when some asshole prints up a story about a friend or a relative who died because of the evils of steroids whether bogus or not I dont want to here that shit on this board you are preaching to the wrong audience. We are all adults and walk into this with open eyes. If I wanted to live my life in fear of everything that may or may not harm me then I would be a vegan shut-in never leaving my house and eating organic vegetables. So please go preach somewhere else and find sympathy from someone who gives a shit.

Guys wether or not the story is true there is no need to be so aggro about it... it may be true and he isnt a doc so may have some of the issues confused... the flu like symptoms could have appeared and then the aorta ruptured which led to near instant death... end of the day innocent till proven guilty and all that... lets not jump on the wagon with prejudice as we accuse others of prejudice against us...
Damn cant believe that about John Ritter though... am I behind the times...???
Golilla... did laugh at your vegan shut in house remark though... too true...

the gentleman who made the post has made no attacks on those who choose to use steroids. nor has he pointed the finger as steroids as the sole reason why his relative died. please refrain from flaming him because you "think" he's here to preach because he has not. he is in search of answers and therefore has posted his question. none of it has been a critique on his relative's decisions nor has it been critical of you and your decisions.
he has found this site because we are listed with all the search engines and are archives are searched by the google and yahoo spiders all day. please see that we get a bunch of porn hounds who find this board everyday the same way. through search engines.
please respect Athletic's wishes to understand the mechanisms which could have contributed to his relative's death rather than getting defensive and calling him a liar.
if this thread continues in this fashion, i will lock it.

This man came here with intentions of finding out truths behind what the media and most medical professionals will deny you. This is not the same as the time the father of the kid from Texas came on, and blamed us all for his sons death, he just wants to know hard facts.
And as Sana said, this thread will remain in tasteful fashion, or the next person that lashes out, when Athletics hasnt done anything but be thankful for the comments, and condolences for his loss, will be tossed from this site
I personally dont have any medical back ground to explain the loss that you have endured, but many things, especially if used for long peroids of time can elevate BP, put stress on the heart and so on, its a million variables and the steroids may or may not have been the culprit.
I am very sorry for your loss, and I do appreciate your coming here too ask, and not too attack.
My condolences to you and the rest of your family...
