  • On cycle forearm problem

I'm 4 weeks in and my grip is complete shit. It's holding me back on curls, deads, row etc. My arms are 19 inches yet I can only get 130 for 3x10 on curls any more and my grip gives out. I could be hitting 160 3x10 or more. With deadlifts I've done over 400 before easily. Right now I can only hold on to 290 for 10 for 1 set and then that's it, Frig I could be repping 500 for 10. Any ideas on how I can get rid of this problem. My reverse curl is also garbage. Heres my split.

    Monday-chest
    Tuesday-legs/back
    Wendseday-tris
    Thursday-bis
    Friday-shoulders(Can't do traps cus of the shitgrip}
    Saturday-abs

I've tried doing forearm work and no forearm work in the past and all kinds of different things in the past. My forearms are 17 inches yet I can't hold on and straps don't help. My forearms get overtrained real easy. Any ideas? This is getting sickening.

Are you getting any wierd vibrations that go from your wrist to your elbow? I have carpal tunnel and it effects my grip big time.

I'm not sure about the vibrations but that may be the case. What are some others symptoms of carpel tunnel?

I've always had poor forearm extensors. I can only ez reverse preacher curl 65 for 10,6,6 and do wrist extensions with about the same. I'm not complaining but I've got the will just don't have the way.

If your not competing in power lifting why not use straps to help w/ your deadlifts and other back exercises?

Straps don't work for me for some reason.

Is there a certain way to do it? If so, let me know please.

you slip the free end through the looped end. you put the straps around your wrist. then you wrap the free end around the weight. how do you use it that it doesn't work? i don't understand how such a simple thing wouldn't work for someone.

... and then you hold on to the lose end that is around the bar? If so that's where my grip slips. I do it the way you explained it.

no, you're not holding onto the loose end. you're wrapping the loose end around the bar, then you kinda wince it around the bar so that it's tight and doesn't move.

you're gonna hafta just ask someone else at the gym who's using them to show ya. i don't even know how to describe it.

it's like giving the bar an indian burn - wrap the loose end around it, then turn it so it's tight. then you're wrist it really the support and your finger a bit of a lip for support.

I have never had them slip before. Either you have a bad pair of wraps are you are using them incorrectly. They do make wrist wraps that have hooks so you don't need to wrap the staps around the weight. You hook on and pull. I like these for some exercises but not for deads. I try not to use wraps at all but some days if I'm going real heavy they definitely help.

Well, besides the occasional "vibration", my pinkie finger is kinda numb and feels cold. Straps work for me though.

Thank's a lot Sana. I workout at home and just went out and did the whole indian burn thing and it worked of course. I was wrapping it right just holding it wrong.

Jaypee: By the sounds of it I think I have carpel tunnel too. Thank's for the help.

Chadd77: I was thinking about getting those types of straps but I guess I don't have too now.
