  • Tamoxifin Citrate Powder

I don't know too much when it comes to homebrewing, so i'm hoping you guys can enlighten me. I've got some tamoxifin citrate powder that I want to convert into an oral solution. I was wondering if using PEG400 would be ok. I was figuring for an oral solution of 20mg/ml I would use 1 gram of powder and 50ml of PEG400, with maybe some cinnamon extract. Now supposing this is ok, I would assume that I would boil some water, then remove it from the burner, and then put the vial in and stir up the contents to make a solution. Let me know if this is ok, or if i'm going about this all wrong. Thanks for any help you guys can spare me.

That can be a bitch. You almost have to melt the tamo first then add the solvet. but for 20mg/ml just mix it up and put into the oven at 250 until fully desolved. let it cool slowly.

I was counting on you to respond. Thanks a lot man. However, how would I go about melting the tamox alone? Or should I just mix it all up and bake it like you said?

Sounds OK to me. I have never tried to dissolve tamoxifin in PEG 400 though. You might want to just take a few mg (a pinch) of the tamoxifin and see how that dissolves in PEG first. If it is soluble, then add the rest and the rest of the PEG.

I will defer to skyefire on this one. Sounds like he has done this before.

What would you recommend that I use instead of the PEG400?

I am sure everclear would work. That is basically what all these research companies use to dissolve tamoxifin.
