  • Skipping workouts during on gear

How many of u all have ever taken time off while on gear. I dont mean taking 2 weeks off or more. I dont mean also, not trainng but juicing, none of that. Im mean as im skipping a workout because of feeling sick. I didnt really feel like training, I never skip workouts. Havent taken time off since 3 months ago. The most was a week. Even If i have a cold/flu, I still hit the weights and eat like crazy.

I ask this because this week ive been feeling like shit for the past 2 days. I did do shoulders Monday but today had to do legs, but i skipped them. Ive been getting dizzy like crazy, my stomach was messed up , had diareah for 2 days, and also tired as hell due to my job.

I wanted to know if this is bad or fuck it hit the weights the next day. Today at Best Buy and Walmart I almost collapsed. Had to get out of there pronto. But do u all ever do this or nah.

My first two cycles I didnt miss a workout. I had the pukes one time and worked through it. By the end of the cycle I was totally burned out. This cycle I am on now, around week 8 or 9 I knew was gonna be a long one and I took a few days off and came back strong and with the same fire I had when I started and didnt feel guilty at all. But at the same time, I dont compete, I am just a family man that likes moving iron and watching my body change.

      thanx

I sliced my thumb open and got a few stiches during this cycle .. i also got really sick 3 times from gear.. i took time off... when i sliced my thumb open i took 4 days off ... when i got sick the 2nd time around i took off extra time cause i relapsed... one thing i can honestly say is that i have grown more on this cycle than any other one .. maybe i wasnt ever getting enough rest ? i know i tend to over do it sometimes .. want too much :-) ...all in all i feel taking some time off (no more than 1 1/2 weeks or so ) is ok .. and maybe even beneficial

so its cool then. What i like about taking a few days off is that when u do the weights the following week it feels awesome, stronger and all. Like a jumpstart or something.

by now you should be able to listen to your body.

Overtraining can still happen even though your on the ambrosha!! Also when your sick, your sick...rest and let your body fight the bug...and if it is a virus please DO NOT TRAIN you can infect more of your body (including your heart) b/c of the increased blood flow and cellular intake. It has been awhile since I have even blown the dust off of some of the lit. on this so I will not go in to any detail...

But just like anything else ... listen to what your body is telling you. What is worse: Pushing through illness at 40-65% for a week and a half, or resting and missing a few workouts and then returning @ 100%?

Take care of your self bro and remember -- we don't grow in the weight room...like santa and the tooth fairy--it comes while your resting!

For sure. I skipped a leg night one friday. Next friday on legs I felt great. That's when I jumped up to 405 on the squat and 810 on the leg press. Sometimes I guess the body just needs a vacation. :D

Don't want to pat myself on the back to hard, but I haven't missed a single workout in 11 years.

Even did a brutal squat workout just hours before my wedding.

Rest is just damn good for the body. Espically if your immune system is down just a bit.

I got sick not too long ago and I refused to skip a workout , but it seemed to linger and I couldn't shake the fuckin' cold. Took a couple days of from everything, got some bed rest, watched some movies and chilled.

My body thanked me for that.

I've taken a few weeks off in cycles still did shots and lost almost nothing.
Now if I quit eating started parting and quit aas I probley would have lost some.

I get back in it quick amazing how fast human body adapts and grows.

i listen to my body weather on or off -- if i feel its no good to train on any given day i take it off-

pushing yourself at the wrong moments can result in injury-

                            listen to your body

a lot of people push themselves too much during a cycle (not intensity wise, but staying in the gym for hours and doing cardio). I have found that a workout every 3-4 days is the most I can do and still feel great every workout. if they are any closer than that I start to get worn down.
