  • Got a laugh out of this......

Peter Williams, in a seminar in australia said that steroids only constituted 'about five percent of bodybuilding'. Other pros agreed. All they needed was that five percent finishing touch, that little edge, they said.

Mike Sanderson, mr world, followed another popular line. He said he only took steroids for contest preparation."look i dont give a shit if you believe me or not its true".
Cameron "the beast' parker bravely admits to taking cycles that wouldnt effect a cat of average proportions. Even the most open and honest professional bodybuilders admit to cycles very much below the real ones.

I drove Franklin Mercuri around Melbourne in the mid eighties, when he toured australia. He was a mr universe contender and could hardly speak english. Man to man he told me of the 'droplets' he'd toyed with throughout his career.
"more is not better" he preached.
"Admit it Franklin, you lying motherfucker. You took that much in one week! Dont piss down my back and tell me its raining"

Arnold and Frank zane both put thier views forward. They said that the same champions would still be at the top of bodybuilding, with or without drugs.
The great man then went for utter overkill, stating that out of all the top class bodybuilders he'd ever known, he'd never known one who used drugs for any purpose other than to perfect an already great physique!
The most memorable was lee haney. I saw him with the boys at Dallas Brooks hall after he'd won his eighth and final olympia, eclipsing Arnolds record. On paper, Haney was the greatest of all time. During his reign of supremacy though, he was rarely featured on magazine covers.
"Can you believe that" he said. "In eight years as mr olyimpia. And all because of the colour of my skin." He spoke of lots of things that afternoon, for instance, how he hated lies.
"by the way,"he said, "Did you know that i was the first natural mr Olyimpia?"

LOL. What utter bullshit. If that is the case, then somehow the genetics must have gotten 10 times better over the past 50 years. Look at old pictures from the 30's and 40's. Those guys couldn't hold a CANDLE to the BB's of today. Did they not train as hard or eat as well? Bullshit! The only difference was steroids had not been dicovered yet.

Steroids play a big roll but like the article said, the same guys would be champions if steroids didnt exist. Genetics, diet, training and will power play a bigger roll then steroids. You can give a guy that has shit for genetics all the steroids in the world and he will never look like much. Some people just dont want to face reality.

That's true. If steroids didn't exist, the same people would still be the champions because NO ONE would be juicing; the playing field would still be level. I am just saying that If the champions of today didn't do steroids, they wouldn't win against the BBs who are juicing. The runners up of today are way more massive than the winners of the 30's and 40's. There isn't any way to be a top competitor today without juicing and doing it on massive scale.
