  • Is this an abcess?

on monday morning i shot 1cc of syd. cyp in my left shoulder and then that evening i worked shoulders. tuesday morning it was really sore and i couldn't raise my arm very high. today there is a pretty big hard knot there and it's sore as hell, i've gotten alot of knots and lumps before but none of them have felt like this though. i stuck a 1.25" needle in all the way as i always do and when i pulled it out a little of the oil ran out down over my arm. i know i got it deep enuff. whats this sound like to you?
    thanks

hey joe, but have u done this before. Like shooting in a certain bodypart and then training it.

I say this because when i used to shoot my butt and then work it out the same day, i couldnt walk bro. Like if the juice was stuck there in me. Same goes for the triceps, used to shoot them and work them out, next day was sore as hell and had a huge lump.

What ive been doing now is shooting before going to bed. I wake up fine.

that may be what caused it, i've done it a couple times, shooting shoulders before a workout but it never got this sore... i usually shoot at night before bed too but i forgot so i had to do it the same day as the workout. i hope thats all thats wrong because abcesses are bitch.

right now i have a sore tricep. I did shoulders last night and then shot before going to bed. I shot 1ml of qv prop, woke up this morning and have a huge bump, looks more like an extended part of the muscle, freaky and painfull too. I warned my sister and girl not to punch me today on my right arm. :)

This is just a theory...but it makes sense to me. Introducing a needle into muscle tissue is going to cause some micro-tears in the very small blood vessels. Now, rather than allowing these micro-tears to heal, you go and work the muscle...causing a pump...causing quite a bit of bleeding in the muscle. Perhaps the lump you feel is a combination of blood and the oil...and it just needs a couple of days to be re-absorbed?

Or, theory number two...you work out with the 'pocket' of oil still in the muscle. The muscle is contracting durign the workout, and the pocket of oil is pressing on the muscle. This causes the body to identify the pocket of oil as an irritant...and the body deals with it by surrounding the irritant with fluid to reduce the irritation to the surrounding tissues. Perhaps the lump you feel is simply a little bit of excess fluid?

It's possible to have either scenario, but I wouln't immediately worry about it being 'an abcess'....somethign that is a problem....unless the area gets warm and the swelling persists. Try taking an anti-inflammatory like Advil, and ice the area down...see if that helps.

Same thing happens to me when I put a couple cc's into my pec and then work chest. I get a knot that feels like a golf ball and is sore as hell. Takes about 4 days to completely disappear.

Do you have other symptoms of a abcess? Is is warm to the touch? Is it red in color? Do you have flu-like symptoms? If these symptoms aren't present, then I'd give it a couple days.

hitman that does make alot of sense, it's just slightly warm to the touch but not much redness if any, i've been monitoring my body temp and it's normal so far. hopefully it's just from injecting then working the muscle, i had an abcess in my glute a couple years ago and it was a very painful experience thats why i was so worried about this. it may be feeling a slight bit better this morning but not much, i'll let you guys know how it goes.
              thanks

Most infections you can easly tell the difference in the temprature of it and the rest of the skin around it. It's also pretty red.

If it's just inflamation, gravity will pull it down the body. So that sounds like it.

Going through the same thing right now

I'm in a similar situation. I did a 2cc injection in my left quad last Friday. The needle didn't seem to go in smooth for some reason. It was like it hit something hard 3 times on the way in. I was okay most of Friday but I did several miles of walking Saturday and ended up with a huge 5 inch round swolen red spot on my quad by the end of the day. It looked like I had some how managed to stuff a football under my skin.

It felt a little warm so I started taking cipro and celebrex to try to keep the swelling and inflamation down. It seems to be getting better but I'm at day 6 since the problem started and it still is a noticiably large bump.

I'm totally stumped as to what happened here. This isn't the most painful injection I've had, but it is the second ugliest.

I always keep an antibiotic on hand during a cycle just in case I think I get an absess. This is the first time I've resorted to using it. I'd recommend any one doing injections to keep some cipro on hand.

Bottom line, like every one is saying if this is the problem then the proper way should be to schedule your injections to be inserted in a muscle group that you don't plan on doing that day/next day.:3some:
