sperm count vs sperm quality

my wife actually has this question. if she were to get pregnant while i was on gear could it ultimatley affect the child? i know that my sperm can actually be stopped completely from production but if it diddnt stop completely and there was a few that got through and she concieved does the gear have the ability to negativly affect the child?

interesting question...as my wife have gone back and forth on this as well. I would also like to know what guys have gone through in this same situation.

Birth Defects

Anabolic/androgenic steroids can have a very pronounced impact on the development of an unborn fetus. Adrenal Genital Syndrome in particular is a very disturbing occurrence, in which a female fetus can develop male-like reproductive organs. Women who are, or plan to become pregnant soon, should never consider the use of anabolic steroids. It would also be the best advice to stay away from these drugs completely for a number of months prior to attempting the conception of a child, so as to ensure the mother has a normal hormonal chemistry. Although anabolic/androgenic steroids can reduce sperm count and male fertility, they are not linked to birth defects when taken by someone fathering a child


found that same paragraph posted on 6 different web sites one of them was a medical site declaring the evils of steroids.

I would imagine that tampering with hormone levels, which essentially govern the development of sperm, would inevitably affect their quality.

no because you are talking about a horomone affecting a dna molecule. Gear reduces the amount of sperm but it does not mutate the remaining ones. obviously if a woman is on gear during pregnancy it can affect the developmental stages of the baby but this is a whole different ball game.

THat is referring to women, not men. Clearly women shouldnt use if they are trying to concieve, due to virilization.

And this is exactly correct.

Thats why i posted it the last sentence summed it up.

My wife who happens to be a RN went the next step being she is pregnant and i was on gear. She asked a couple of the Dr.s she works with and they had the same thing to say as stonecold .

actually it was a rather simple question with an obvious answer. Steroids do not mutate DNA in the sperm of a man. so it will not affect the baby on the mans end.
