  • Couldn't Donate Blood Today

I went to donate blood and got defered. They have you do a questionaire before giving blood. Part of it is a behavioral questionaire. In it, it asks if you have ever, even once, used a needle not prescribed to you by a doctor. I said yes. The question even states IV so I told them it wasn't IV it was IM but it didn't matter. It's about using a needle that was unprescribed. We were talking a little then and it got around to what it was, because I told them it wasn't a narcotic. I said it was an Anabolic and they thought I said antibiotic. Then I said no an anabolic and they said "what's that".. But I am eliagble to donate blood in 2265. No the year is not a typo :D

And they wonder why they have donor shortages. Cause they are always regulating who can donate. If you've lived overseas or on a military base overseas you can't donate. If you've been with a woman, who has been with a man, who has been with a man, then you can't donate. If your iron levels are too low, you can't donate. Etc, etc. Guess it makes you feel safe though, to know that the blood you're getting is clean. I wouldn't mind getting some of ronnie colemans blood.

I would have just told them no. There trying to screen out drug users or people who have shared needles. If you ever have by all means tell them but if your using sterile needls in the correct manner then there is nothign to worry about.

If you have gotten a tattoo is the last 3 years you cant donate.

If you lived in Europe for more than 3 months between 1980 and 1994 you can not donate.
