  • 6 days on too much?

i work at a gym as a trainer, and its very hard not to workout, because i have plenty of time to workout and i am at the gym all day. i do force myself to take one day off. i am on a test cycle right now, do you think i am overtraining working out with high intensity 6 days on 1 day off?

workout looks like this right now

    Chest/back
    Shoulders/bi's/tris
    Legs
    Rest
    Chest/back
    Shoulders/bi/tri
    Legs

You are definately overtraining. You need to split up your workout so that you're only working out one bodypart per day, so that each bodypart only gets hit once per week. Try something like this:

    Day 1: Chest
    Day 2: Legs
    Day 3: Back
    Day 4: Triceps/Shoulders
    Day 5: Core/Calves
    Day 6: Biceps
    Day 7: OFF

On that split, the only thing that gets worked twice per week is calves (on leg day, and with core on Day 5). Working each bodypart hard once per week is much more condusive to growth. The common belief is that you can work out more often while on AAS and not overtrain is a misconception.

i used to workout one bodypart like that, but my gains were better the other way. its just the way my body reacts. Maybe because i am younger. I may switch it up and go with one bodypart per week for a while, just to give it a break from overtraining.

          Day 5: Core/Calves
          Day 6: Biceps
          Day 7: OFF

          this is a nice setup

hey bro on your workouts how many sets were u doing per exercise. Since u were going 2 times per week. It just seems too much. I was working each body part every 5 days with good results. But twice, ouch:(

Hey slash listen to what they are saying to you. I think you will find your cycle and gains more productive by breaking things up. It is true that you are less likely to overtrain while on, however it does not mean that you will not hamper your gains by doing too much. Moderation is the key to this game long term... Good luck

2-4 sets, 3-5 excersises per bodypart. squats/deads are more sets of course because i have to work up to the weight so i dont hurt myself. its very hard to not workout seeing as i am in the gym all day! its like drugs man! sometimes i workout 2x a day too, same bodyparts though. my workouts are pretty fast paced, and would be over within 20-30 mins if i were to do one bodypart (not that thats a problem), and i tend to workout with another trainer often, and they workout the same way as i do, i got the routine from them, they all workout the same way. i wont gaurantee, ill switch to one time a week, but im taking it into consideration and its likely i will do the change.

your working the same area twice in 6 days. 4 times in 12 days and so on. i dont care what you say or what you THINK is working for you, you are robbing yourself of gains.

                    my routine:

                    Chest
                    arms
                    off
                    back
                    shoulders
                    off
                    legs

thats it. hit the gym hard and then rest. you grow outside the gym, not in it.

lol, bro, i suggest you stop doing that unless you want to be the incredible shrinking man. you have to understand that working out is simply to stimulate the muscle. once you do that you have to feed the machine so to speak. working out twice a day is breaking down the muscle faster then you can repair it.

yeah well i figured working out 2x wouldnt make much of a difference because i would have 3 days off to repair. do you think i am robbing myself of strength gains from working out too much? or just muscle weight gains?

strength and muscle gain go hand and hand bro.

yeah thats what i figured, strength is muscle, but then why do people do different rep ranges for strength then building muscle? I always just stick in the 6-10 range.
