It works because this site has sponsors and ads on it (albeit good ones) and if you visit the site and click around (hence clicking the button) thats traffic and the more traffic a site has, the more the sponsors will pay to advertise there. Makes sense, you'd pay $5 a year to advertise on Joe Blows search engine because 1 million people a year view it, but you're going to pay thousands a year to advertise on Google because over a million people a day view it... the more traffic a site has, the more potential that people will visit sponsors and purchase something.
