As moderators we sometimes get to hear things that other members don’t so I am not sure that some people realize how much personal info they actually give out. There have been several threads over the last week or two (not all on this board by any means) That have brought this home to me, I went through some of my old post and found that I have often told more then was wise, in other words someone that knew me might well recognize me. This is hardly wise as some of the people that I do know I don’t trust with such personal info. I am not talking in steroids in general but in other personal matters as well.
I’m not saying that we should not make friends or trust other members rather that we don’t need to be doing so on the open board. Personal info should never be openly posted or communicated in an unsecured fashion (remember that PMs are not safe). Details of our day to day lives should also kept from being excessive. Remember that if you got a DWI on Friday night, live in Redding Ca, have your height and weight posted on the board then you have just been ID by the first LE that has a mind to look, no warrant needed, no hacking necessary. While this is not common can very easily happen. And deleting a post does not remove the info from the internet. Just go take a look at googles stored web pages.
Also just because someone is our friend at the gym doesn’t mean that they need to be one on the boards. It is a hard thing to say but look at what happens with most bust, usually the first person to roll gets a deal and suddenly you have a bunch of people going down. The more people that can connect you to your board name the more likely that will happen (it can happen anyway) or look at the number of trusted people that have turned scammers. I have had several people that I have known, some moderators that have turned scammer. It happens far too often. If you don’t really know somebody then you should not be careless in dealing with them.
I am not trying to make people paranoid here just set them on there guard. Most of the people I work with on the boards I consider friends. I am just reminding myself and you to chose our friends carefully.
