Hi - first, thanks to all those who took time to answer past questions.
This is the outcome. I ascribe the results to 3 MDs, SuperiorMuscle,
the Rejuvenation newsgroup at Yahoo (thanks Ellis), and Dr's Eades/Eades
of the book "Protein Power Lifeplan" and Gen-Sci, the manufacturers of
Jintropin, and the makers of Google and endless searching.
Diagnosed AGHD (Adult Growth Hormone Deficient) at age 47 by
endocrinologist chief-of-staff of hospital and member board of directors.
Can be caused by a) head trauma (had a few concussions/falls/car
accidents) b) benign or malignant pituitary tumor or c) a virus.
When the pituitary axis goes out it is usually due to head trauma and it is
almost always the growth hormone capability that is knocked down/out.
This is not generally well-known. Result of AGHD can look very much like
CFS and many CFSers are also AGHD. Chicken-and-egg.
Also diagnosed CFS about 1.5 years ago due to some EBV tests. Had been
on Valacyclovir anti-viral until about a month ago to control it. Now the
hormones below plus the supplement described below totally control it
better than the Valacyclovir ever did.
It seems that nature doesn't much care about us once we get to a
certain age. A lot of things shut down. Minor to moderate head traumas
can result in the body's most important hormone being drastically reduced
with accelerated aging as a result. Action is required to keep the body going
in the form of diet, exercise, and supplements/hormones.
My IGF-1 levels were measured at 70, 90, 110 ng/ml.
I am 47, 6 feet tall, and 171lbs.
I had been suffering with major fatigue, poor sleep, considered suicide.
Started 1.5iu injected Jintropin each morning on 11/1/2005
along with a single transdermal application of testosterone. I do not
know its potency. I get it from a former double-major titleholder and his
MD who said my IGF-1 was the lowest he had measured in the history
of their joint business and I don't ask them a lot of questions for obvious
reasons. I had tried AndroGel through another endocrinologist and had an
absolutely horrific skin allergic reaction that covered half my chest. Their
transdermal is fine for me. I don't want to do depots or regular injections.
Subcutaneous is fine for me. Intramuscular is not.
So here it is 2 months later and I feel better than I've felt in 20 years.
My concentration, strength, balance, interest in life, and all the "good stuff"
have returned. Plus, the relationship with the boss has produced some good
results. I can concentrate at work and plow through tons of projects
effortlessly. I'm already ahead for 2006.
I went back to the endocrinologist who prescribed the 1.5iu originally
of Humatrope that my insurer would not pay for (*ssholes do not cover
for things that they can't say are viral/hypopituitary/thyroid/panhypopituitary
- in other words they rule out AGHD - total jerks). I substituted Jintropin
myself and have not told the endocrinologist. I am paying for it out of pocket
and buy and use all my own gear with the advice of many of you.
She did not alter the dosage after the IGF-1 test described next and we're
keeping it at 1.5iu. My latest IGF-1? 280 ng/ml, which is up 190 ng/ml from
past measurements! The IGF-1 test was taken exactly 24 hours from the
immediate prior Jintropin and Testosterone applications.
So that is a good story.
But I want to add one thing. I stumbled across something and added it
in about 4 weeks ago and got a bigger effect from it than either the rGH
or Testosterone. It floored me. I do it daily since 12/1/2005. It is 200 mg
of magnesium malate, i.e. 1100 mg of malate and 200 mg of magnesium. The
malate is for absorption. I take it at bedtime.
It makes my sleep DRASTICALLY more efficient. I now can go from the time I
wake up in the morning to the time I go to bed at night with absolutely
no fatigue whatsoever.
I also take 2500 mcg Vitamin B-12 sublingual and Vitamin E
tocopherol/tocitrinol E-gems from Carlsons daily with a heavy mostly
fresh fish diet.
I avoid all sugars and sweets, all pop/soda drinks and drink a lot of
green and black teas and only with stevia, never sugars.
That's it.
Happy 2006 everybody.
