  • Help with TNE in oil

I used 3%BA and 12% BB and after TNE and oil was filtered then cooled it went to a solid or paste. I used Saffalower oil if that makes any difference. Any chance of reheating mixture and adding more solvent? Any help would be appreciated.

TNE was only 50mg/ml, so Im not sure why it didn't hold. How much more BA or BB should I add?

I would bake it really good first. if that fails after repeating it once then I would add some BB to the solution. but there really isn't any reason that the test should not hold at 3 and 12 % with 50mg/ml

Started out with 1 gram TNE
            .6ml BA 3%
            2.4 ml BB 12%
            16.25ml OIL
And TNE in oil still crashed.

Reheated and added .5ml BA and .5ml BB and it still crashes.
I guess i just have to heat it before injecting it and try another batch when this one is finished.

how high did you heat it up? as a last resort try heating it up past 311 degree f. (past the test base melting point.) see if it holds after that. be carefule of your rubber stopper.

I guess my problem was I never cooked it in the oven, i only heated it on burner for 5 or 10 minutes on low. At what temp should I have baked in oven and for how long?

I would try 250 first then 325 if that doesn't work. be very careful of the rubber stopper though, the red kind is more heat resistant but can still get brittle. make sure that you have a spare bottle to transfer it into. but you shouldn't be having this problem, can you post exactly what you did (conversion wise)
