    I am getting just as sick with the Igf questions as everyone else, but please bare with me on this one. I have read it on another thread but do not seem to be able to find it again. When diluting the igf, how much does it displace. For instance I have the typical 1000mg/ml of Igf and would like to end up with 10 ml for easy dosages, how would I go about doing this? I do not want to start another argument on what to dilute it with, I just need the volume.

    Are you sure you have 1000mg or is it 1000mcg. Let's assume it's 1000mcg. Is it powder or already diluted and your just looking to add volume? If it's already diluted don't mess with it. Should be 1cc of dilutant and each tic on an insulin syringe is 10mcg. So the number 10 on the syringe is 100mcg, 20 is 200mcg, etc. If it's powder, then you would just add 10cc of bacteriostatic water. But this is not possible with the little vials the igf comes in. So you would have to transfer it to a bigger vial which I don't recomend because it is so fragile. If you want to measure it a little easier just get .3cc or .5cc insulin syringes.

      I'm assuming you mean 1000mcg correct? please respond and we can help.

        yes, sorry guys I ment the 1000mcg... brain working faster than the fingers, well that is my excuse. I know I need to add the sodium chloride, I just need to know for every ml of the IGF powder, how much it displaces when mixed with the Sodium Chloride. Again I am not getting into a disagreement on what to mix it with, just need to know the requested info. I think that should keep the thread on track. I don't know if this even matters all that much in the end, but I do remember seeing it on another thread so I might as well ask. Thanks guys.

          add 2 ml sodium Choride (BP) to the side of the glass vial the powder is in ( make shure not to add fluid directly to the powder ) then shake well. Draw the 2ml 's of igf and deposit into the 10ml vial add the remaining 8ml's of sodium chloride. Refridgerate

            So, then you would have ~10ml. That would make 10 units 10mcg, correct?

              I understand that 2ml + another 8ml is 10ml, that is not what I am trying to figure out... If I add the one ml of igf to 10ml of sodium chloride, what will that end up equaling? How much will that 1ml of igf displace? I hope this is a little more clear then my last few posts. I am trying to get as accurate as possible with the doses, so figuring this out should help me with that.

                I basically answered your question. When you have 1mcg/ml of IGF, then 10 units on a slin pin is 100 mcg. So, if you have 1mcg/10 ml it should be 10 units would equal 10mcg. I guess that is the correct way to figure it out.

                  I understand how to figure this out once I have the 10ml of the igf solution... 1000mcg ifg/10ml = 100mcg/ 1ml and so on. However, I had seen on another thread how much the powder displaces when mixed with the sodium chloride, knowing this I would know exactly how much solution to add without having to measure the final amount. This is just an example and not the correct numbers, but it was something like if you have 1000mcg/ml igf and you add 9.3ml sodium chloride then you will end up with the 10ml mixed solution.
