How to get bloodwork

How do you explain to your doctor why you want bloodwork done? what do you ask for specifically? I havent done any gear and wont be doing any for a while but I was just wondering for when the time comes.

I just know my doc is going to ask me why. Are there any other excuses than "cause I want one" . I will want to do one before and then one several months or so afterward to make sure everything is normal again.
