Rogaine is the only one I know and I've heard that it works poorly.

Shampooing with Nizoral 3X per week helps block DHT at the hair root, and it is available without a prescription (here in Canada, anyways).

Rogaine works as long as you use as instructed. The bad thing about it though is that once you start, you have to use it forever. Once you regrow hair and stop using it, the hair will fall out faster and the thinning or bald spot will get bigger.

Isn't Nizoral for dandruff? How does it affect hairgrowth? Just curious.

The mechanism through which it works isn't 100% certain, but the study done shows that it was about as effective as minoxidil. Everything I've read suggests it blocks some of the DHT at the hair follicle, and/or reduces inflammation of the hair follicle when DHT binds.

also there is something called the laser comb. It is supposed to be pretty effective. My doctor told me about it. It is fairly expensive , but doesn't dry your scalp out like rogaine. I will tell you how it works first hand in a few months.
