The drug has been added to the World Anti-Doping Agency’s list of banned substances because it can help mask the presence of performance-enhancing drugs.
Finasteride stops hair loss by preventing the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the hormone believed responsible for male pattern baldness.
