Flex Wheeler undergoes kidney surgery

Flex Wheeler underwent surgery kidney transplant surgery on September 16th. The operation was long, but it was a success, and Flex is resting comfortably at a Los Angeles hospital, with his wife Madeline by his side. Everything is going well, and Flex should be in the hospital for about a week.
If you recall, Flex has FSGS, a condition termed Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, which involves the formation of scar tissue in the internal structure of the kidneys. He has had it for a long, long time. This condition is more prevalent in black people. It is not caused by anabolic drug usage. Flex has said that both of his parents have the disease.

i heard this as well...im aware of his kidney problems, an yes they are more prevalent in black ppl... but im sure the AAS didnt help....this one guy i knew owned a gym an he went threw 2 kidneys before he was even 40...

glad to hear he is doing well. however, i can't help but feel that drug use did accelerate his condition. cause it no, but help it along...i wonder.

Flex himslef said in an interview, that the AS use accelerated the effects of the disease.... How much did it accelerate the condition... no one can say.....

I have heard that extemely high protein intake coupled with inadequate water consumption can be damaging to the kidneys...so how does he know that it was the AAS and not the forementioned situation?

I guess he would be assuming..... But it could be a combonation of many things.... who is to say??

protein takes nearly 7 tmes the amount of water use by the kidneys as does carbs. second, for every excess gram of protein digested and discarded, anywhere from 1 to 1.5 grams of calcium is excreted as well. so high protein diets can cause problems. so it is adviable to up the water intake upto 2 gallons a day, and up the cacium

in his last few yrs at comps, he seemed to be getting sick everytime he was getting on stage, have to come in with an oxygen tank and what not...even if the disease is more prevealnt in a specific race, his use, definatly increased what he had
