A bodybuilder was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of possessing steroids following a police narcotics/vice raid on a Pu'uloa home.

The 38-year-old man, booked for investigation of first- and second-degree promotion of harmful drugs, was still in police custody today.

Narcotics/Vice Division Capt. Kerry Inouye said charges are pending lab test results of what he describes as a "significant amount" of what is believed to be steroids seized in a warrant search of the man's home.

Police acted on a tip and intercepted a package containing drugs before it was delivered to the man's house.

The man arrested competed in a national bodybuilding contest seven years ago but is not known to Mits Kawashima, who will be presenting the 29th anniversary Hawaiian Islands Bodybuilding Championships on June 30.

DURHAM -- Five people are facing charges and a large quantity of drugs have been seized after a two-month undercover police investigation into the sale of illegal steroids at a Pickering fitness club.

Members of several Durham police units executed search warrants at three locations in Bowmanville and Ajax as the investigation culminated, seizing steroids, cocaine, ecstasy, prescription pain killers and GHB, known as the date rape drug, worth more than $90,000. Among those charged is a nutritionist from the fitness club, police said. Cops also recovered more than $4,000 in cash.

The project began as a Drug Enforcement Unit investigation in February after police received information about illegal steroids being sold at the club. That probe soon revealed that a number of other drugs were being sold, police said.

As a result of the investigations, several men have been charged with trafficking and other drug-related offences. They are Troy Persaud, 31, of Aspen Springs Drive in Bowmanville; Jason Pineau, 22, of Sivyer Crescent in Ajax; Patrick Yoshida, 22, of Wicks Drive in Ajax; Austen Drysdale, 20, of Cedarview Drive in West Hill, and Robert Scott Milne, 32, of Wicks Drive in Ajax.

Mr. Milne is a nutritionist at the fitness club police targeted. In addition to drug charges he is charged with extortion and conspiracy to commit extortion, as well as possession of the proceeds of crime.

Drug task force find steroids in Iowa Park

      By Jessica Langdon/Times Record News
      March 28, 2007

Two searches in a steroid investigation injected a lot more information — and evidence — into a North Texas case.

Three Iowa Park men were arrested Tuesday on first-degree felony charges stemming from the months-long investigation, the North Texas Regional Drug Enforcement Task Force announced. Officers said they planned to cast an even wider net in their investigation into the drugs that have made their way into the area.

The case started about four months ago with a tip, said John Spragins, an investigator with the task force.

"Over the last four or so months, the drug task force has been investigating people who are ordering steroids that are coming from outside the United States," he said. Those drugs are being distributed in this area, and they're not safe, he said.

The task force announced that Cody Wayne Williams, 30, Robert Allan Yow III, 23, and Bobby Dale Hanvey, 26, all of Iowa Park, were arrested in connection with charges of engaging in organized criminal activity/delivery of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 3 (anabolic steroids) over 200 grams, which is a first-degree felony. The three are appearing today before a justice of the peace to be formally charged and have bond amounts set. All three were being held Wednesday afternoon in the Wichita County Jail.

Spragins said the findings in this case have been surprising so far, and this is a rare type of case for this area.

Just like weed. Eventhough one person could probably smoke a bag themself, it's still classified as possession with intent to sell.
