  • Expiration date on Humatrope

I have an offer to pick up a Humatrope kit at a descent price, only problem is it expired on August 1st (6 days ago). I already have serostim on hand but was wondering if you think this Humatrope kit is still any good, or if I should stick with the serostim. Keep in mind that if I picked up the Humatrope I would start it today and I would be done with it by the end of August. Is this too far past the expiration date or is it still good?

The Expiration date is printed on vial. It is good for up to 4 weeks if opened and used (injected a needle into vial). If sealed, it is good until expiration date. After that, it loses potency. Also, it can be out of the refrig at room temperature (86 deg F or less) for 28 days. Higher temps or out of refrig for longer periods causes it to lose potency. .

Pharmaceutical companies always err on the safe side with expiry dates...if it has been stored properly, it will most likely be 100% effective only a month past the expiry date. Of course, don't let the seller know that...use the date as a bargaining chip, and get it for a steal of a price if you can.
