  • Where to start?

Hi, i have been reading alot recently and been overwhelmed by how much infomation there is. there are a few things which confuse me, such as, cycle, test and other sort of phrases. Could any one tell me maby a site or let me know a few of the basics? I have been training for a few years now and want to try something new, howeva i dont want to rush into something with out all the infomation first.

    Thanks

Lets take a different approach. Instead of explaining a bunch of phrases let me ask you a few questions.

    1. What are your goals? (Do you want to get bigger, more cut up etc..)

    2. What does your current diet look like. (Post your meals)

For now, just answer those questions and we will be able to help you more.

My main priority at the moment is to loose a bit of body fat and get bigger. I do alot of phys at the moment, circuits in the morning, then maby a 6 mile run in the evening, i do this 5 times a week. Also 3 weight sesions in the gym per week. at the moment i eat scrambled egg on brown bread every morning. protien shake at around 10:30. for lunch i eat salad with a peice of fruit and a large helping of tuna or other meat. then i dont eat again untill 5pm or so, when i normaly eat chicken with vegtables and maby some more fruit. then after training i would have another shake in the evening. the protien i have been using is maximuscle cyclone but am now trying reflex protein. I hope this answerssome questions

      Thanks

it sounds like you have the basics down. let me ask, how long have you been eating like this and is it consistent? if you have been doing it for awhile and not getting the results you want, then it is time to change things up. i would cut the fruits out at the end of the day. i would add more healthy fats and veggies throughout the day. Make sure you are getting enough protein. You say you have eggs in the morning. How many eggs? egg whites? for example, i eat 2 whole eggs and 10 egg whites in the morning. That is 41 grams of protein. if you are only eating like 2 eggs in the morning, that is only 12 grams of protein and not enough.

i also noticed the 30 miles a week you are running. it is going to be tuff for you to put on any lean body mass when your training like a marathoner. cardio is good, but there are different things you can do and still make it easier on yourself to put on some muscle.

agreed. i would cut that back. keep running but 30 miles a week will make it imposable for your body to grow.

yer i think im doing a bit too much cv at the moment. but its all training for a competition i have at the end of september, i have to do it. normally i would only be doing a leg, back and abs circuit every morning, then maby just a few light runs and more leg work in the evenings, (i do tug of war). howeva i always do 3 or 4 weight sessions later on in the evening, maby 7-8pm. and yer i eat like this a good 5 days a week, but sometimes goes wrong at the weekends. i duno how many eggs in the morning, but its a heaped plate of scrambled eggs, so how eva many that might be? any suggestions on diet etc? maby wack a few more shakes in there? or any other suppliments? thanks
