  • What to do if you get an abcess....

(**Warning**) **See a doc if you have problems, the following is just what you would do if you could not get professional help.**

If you plan on injecting always have a bottle of antibiotics around....this could save you from opening up your gluteus or deltoid muscle.

Remember most surgeons wish they had a body like yours....they have no issues in mutilating you physique to "help keep you leg/arm"

After intiating appropriate abx...I like keflex, clindamycin, doxycycline augmenttin...rocephin if you have access.....locate the abscess and make a feww large bore punctures with a 16gauge needle.
Try to pull out the pus to relieve the pressure. If this doesnt work give it a while and stay on the abx. Try above step another time in case it had a chance to develop. If nothing happens you need to open this up....now I rec you go to the hospital, but this is what a surgeon would do.

Make a small incision over the top of the abscess that goes deep. Try and express the pus if possible. The incisin is extended to allow the abscess to be emptied. After, you irrigate it with saline and hydrogen peroxide flush...not iodine....it is toxic to living tissue. Then you pac it with sterile gauze and keep on the abx.

i would say that if you get an abscess you are either using dirty AAS (UG labs) or you didn't clean the injection site properly. i would also advise that if you do get an abscess, go to the doctor or hospital. you got to remember Serenity who your audience is reading this. could be some teen trying to hide the fact that he uses from mommy and daddy. they could try this and really hurt themselves. your info is good and I do appreciate it. i just don't want to see some dumb ass teen get hurt because they didn't want to go to the doc.

Yeah....an abcess can cause you to go septic and die...why gamble with trying to treat it at home? Bottom line you can bullshit the doc and tell him you got stuck with a nail....you don't have to admit that you did AAS. Odds are they'll know that you're BSing, but they'll treat you all the same.

I think you should always see a doc, but you are choosing to self-medicate by giving self injections. SO I think that you should always know what is going on with your body and what to expect. Early ttreatment is key....so if you are self injecting, I would always rec having some abx around for early treatment, then see the doc. I just wanted to let you guys know what to expect. I just saw this dude get his ass sliced wide open for a tiny little abscess. REMEMBER TO ALWAYS CLEAN EVERYTHING AND DONT USE DIRTY NEEDLES!!!!!

Has anyone ever used Tea Tree Oil? My sister is a nurse and she was telling me that the bacteria that cause staph infections are becoming immune to current antibiotics, but one of the only substances that are still effective against those bacteria is Tea Tree Oil. All skin infections are some kind of staph infection. I would highly recommend Tea Tree Oil for self-treatment. It's 100% natural and very very effective. It's also effective in treating insect bites and has anti-fungal properties. Massage therapists use it in their oils because it also has a diaphoretic effect. Smells funky, but it works. You can get it at Wal-Mart for $5.

Don't mess around with cutting or anything like that because you open up a wound that more often than not, gets further infected. Not a good idea.

Well, now that I think about that, if the abscess has already formed, than you do need to get the puss out, but I still wouldn't do it myself. If you start applying Tea Tree Oil when the injection site gets infected, than you can prevent an abscess. So, yeah, I guess a little off topic. But an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. :D

Tea Tree Oil is amazing stuff though. My sister's sister in law (yeah, I know how that sounds) had a systemic staph infection from a spider bite and was sick for weeks because it wasn't responding to the antibiotics they had her on. After some research she stopped using the antibiotics and started treating the bite with Tea Tree Oil and in two weeks the infection was gone. Systemic staph infections are no joke.
