  • Celebrating the Mitchell report and all that media crap

....by starting a Deca cycle. I didn't intend it that way, but a few minutes after my gear shows up, I'm on the treadmill jogging to CNN, and up comes this "Breaking News" caption followed by a ton of anti-roid propaganda. I flipped around a few more channels and found a whole crapton of hysteria, most of it just repeating some tired old chestnuts about how steroids are evil and will instantly make you go kill your family, make your wabbly bits turn black and fall off, give you cancer of the brain, etc. Freaking witch hunt.

Yes, caution and common sense is warranted when using powerful drugs that can radically alter your baseline hormonal environment, and there are plenty of idiots who should not be allowed to own scissors because they're too dumb not to run with them. But ferfucksake use some common sense and get an unbiased medical professional to fact-check a little before spewing crap on the air. Or maybe the word for this particular brand of fertilizer is "propaganda". Either way it's lame.

Doin' this to the TV, :moon:

My take on the silliness that was coming at me from the TV translated like this.

**announcer with deadly serious look on his face** "Fellow Americans, I'm here to tell you about the dangers of food. Yes, food, that known disease causing substance that is everywhere we look, even in our schools with our children. The use of food is an incredible health hazard to the public. If you give in to this temptation and use food, you will become grossly obese, weighing 700 pounds or more. You will lose your sexual function if you use food. Using food is a slippery slope because it eventually leads to death. One hundred percent of the people who use food will eventually die. That's right, we should ban this substance and NO ONE should be able to use it. Especially children."

Insert the word "over" before the word "use" and you have an accurate state of affairs for both food and steroids. Remove the qualifier and you have an amazing amount of stupidity. It is obviously stupid when you try to suggest that food is bad because some people do abuse it, overeat and get very sick or die. Unfortunately most people don't know enough to understand why it's equally stupid when they're talking about steroids.

And yes, you *do* need steroids (hormones) to stay alive and healthy. Your body under normal conditions will manufacture enough of them to keep you alive, but not always enough to keep you at a peak of health and fitness, especially as you get older and the body systems start to break down. Nobody bats an eye at the ethics of the medical profession replacing someone's knee, but doing the same with hormones is evidently the next thing to having sex with Satan while dressed as a nun. Oh well, nobody ever accused the media of being particularly rational.

Bouncer, I know lots of fags, and I greatly prefer their company to that of witch hunters. Anyhow I suspect most of them are decidedly for anything that makes male bodies prettier.
