  • Dad gets 6 years in prison for dosing his athlete son with steroids

The father of a record-setting in-line skater was sentenced Monday to six years in prison for giving his son steroids.

James E. Gahan, 41, a former Lady Lake resident, is thought to be the first person convicted of providing illegal performance-enhancing drugs to a son who was a world-class athlete.

A federal judge in Tampa chastised Gahan, saying he had betrayed his son, Corey, who was regarded by USA Roller Sports as the top skater in the nation in his age group in 2004.

listen, the kid was a world class athlete, he was probably heading down that road anyway. if athletics is your living, you have no choice really.

but it is screwed up giving it to a 14 year old

so whats your point? it is a kid, and his father should not have been giving him steroids.

i agree. but do you really think the kid had no idea what he was doing? the father was wrong, yes. But i don't think any kid is gonna let someone shoot them up without consent.

The kid wanted to be the best. If I would have known about steroids when I was younger, and it could have elongatd my athletic career, i would have done it in a heartbeat

Some people just don't deserve children .....Id rather do the 6 years than have to worry about my child growing up thinking I was a fucked up parent ....And Im sure in the back of this kids head he'll think that some day ....

Terrible....his body was FAR from mature. And consent or not, he's 14! 14 yr olds do a LOT of stupid things, that's why they aren't called adults yet.

doesn't matter. he is a kid and it is not his decision to make.

i am not saying the father is right. but around me, 15 year olds choose to have sex, they choose to smoke weed, they choose to do drugs, and they choose to stab others. if 15 year olds choose to do those things, steroids is not a far reach, in my opinion

Of course, but their parents aren't *usually* consenting or suggesting.

if he is choosing to do it, that is a different story. but this kids father went out of his way to get his son steroids. big difference.
