Should I disclose to my urologists that I used steroids?

In the service & used for 5 years. I had to stop & now have low test levels. This is my 1st visit to a urologists. With the goal of getting on HRT. Should I play dumb a say gee I dunno why my test levels are low or say yes I used & risk the chance of this getting back to my superiors?

If you've been off for a while and it's been long enough that a test won't prove it, I say don't say a thing. If you weren't in the service i'd say tell them. You don't want to ruin your career over something so petty. That's my 2 cents.

if you know ur test levels are definitely low from past use.why even mention it....unless there were some other issues ur worried about
physically.

Even in the military? When you are in the service you are not a citizens, therefore the typical rights don't always apply to you. I don't know what does and doesn't but I know there are difference's.

there is no need to tell the doc anything! why would you? If you had a serious problem and they didnt know what it was I would tell them but other than that never tell them. get your free test and be happy.

i disagree - all my docs know everything !!!!! that way all proper blood tests get performed as gear can effect many different parts of ur body - prostate - liver - heart etc etc

the more the doc knows about you the better he can check to be sure everything is in working order --

i just find it foolish from a health standpoint not to disclose everything !!!!

except the insurance companies who if they think later on in your life you have a particular disease from steroids or something of the like they can refuse coverage on you.

so if you do discuss steroids with a doc make sure you are cool with him and that he doesn't "Chart" the information. my doc is a friend of mine, he knows from awhile back what I did but he didn't document it on the chart.

I agree with House and SC - my doc makes notes on a separate sheet of paper but it is ONLY kept in my file for HIS use - it is NEVER turned over to my insurance etc - we set those rules up the first few times I saw him - I suppose the only way it would ever be found out would be if his office was investigated and files were taken etc but excluding that I'm pretty confident in telling him EVERYTHING....

Here's my take on all the advice. You are going with the goal of getting HRT. If you go on HRT and later you find out there is a problem, you won't know if it was the HRT or previous use. At that point your doctor can treat your problem as an issue that started because of HRT and your previous use before HRT won't matter. If you don't go on HRT then you definitely don't want to tell the doc because if there is a problem that occurs it could be blamed on your use of steroids before seeing him.

Well no matter what, if there is a problem wouldnt you want it taken care of? I think my health is more important then anything else. Who cares if you get thrown out of the military (which wouldnt even happen) if you have a health issue that needs attention.

And is a urologist who you would even see for these issues?? Wouldnt you see a endocrinologist??? Just asking im not sure.
