Nashville, TN (AHN) -- Tennessee Titans linebacker Ryan Fowler has denied using steroids at any point, though the NFL is seeking answers for themselves. Two weeks ago, they informed Fowler that he was under investigation for possible suspension.
The story surfaced last week, when a connection between him and a late steroids dealer named David Jacobs was made. Fowler, however, has never had a positive test at any point in his NFL career.
The dead drug dealer had spoken with the Dallas Morning News, regarding his involvement with Fowler while he was still playing for the Cowboys. He stated that Fowler had used to gain performance-enhancers near and around the 2006 season.
While Fowler has refused to comment on the nature of his relationship with Jacobs, which has certain folks scratching their heads, he does have a relatively unblemished reputation in his corner.
"My hope is that people can sort of reserve judgment before they know the whole story," Fowler told reporters. "My reputation my whole life has been as a good guy. I hope that this one accusation doesn't taint my reputation that's been pretty clean, especially without knowing all the information."
Tennessee Coach Jeff Fisher is strongly supporting Fowler.
"I've had discussions with Ryan and confidential discussions with Ryan and we're hopeful we can have this cleared up rather quickly," Fisher said. "I'm not anticipating there being any problems with this situation. I'm hopeful it will be resolved and resolved quickly."
It's unknown whether this investigation will have any effect on Fowler's ability to attend training camp, but no formal inductions have yet been issued.
