  • Question on crimping aluminum tops on vials

    For my research purposes I have a need to put sterile oil in glass vials. I have a crimper, rubber stoppers the aluminum flip off caps. The vials I have are “sterile” (YEA RIGHT) from a research supplier. My question is how do you sterilize the vials, install the rubber stopper, crimp the aluminum flip off cap all the while keeping everything sterile? Obviously the environment will be sterilized along with proper care in protecting myself by means of rubber gloves and face mask etc… Would one heat the bottles then alcohol swab the rubber stopper, insert the rubber stopper and possibly draw out the air that is inside the bottle in an attempt to create a vacuum? Or maybe inject some alcohol into the vial just while the rubber stopper is on then crimp the flip top onto the bottle? Seems there is a LARGE amount of variables that could contaminate this process? I have done a ton of searches and can only come up with procedures to use already sealed vials. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!:dunno:

    Clean sterile environment is a must. Alcohol mist everything ,vials get a swirl and left upside down for a minute to dry. then attach everything. when i say mist everything that include surface area allside to everything.
    this is how i was taught in college i might have forgetten something or something new might be out there glass vials can go through a high heated cleaning process the diff is .001% more clean.

      took this info from a different post. this guy was making test prop but he still gives the step by step that i thought might help you.

      Step 1: Wash your hands & immediately put on your gloves before you touch ANYTHING. This helps you have the most sterile environment possible.

      Step 2: Empty all the Synovex H carts into a STERILE container.

      Step 3: Dump a bottle of HEET into the container with the Synovex H. Yes, the whole bottle & make sure it's the yellow bottle. After adding it, it should look pretty cloudy. Let it sit for about 15-20 mins or until the pellets are COMPLETELY dissolved. You can swirl it to speed up the process.

      Step 4: Once completely dissolved, set up a filter in another STERILE container to filter out all the binders from the solution. Use a coffee filter or painter's mask. I used a coffee filter. Pour the dissolved pellets & Heet through the filter.

      Step 5: Pour in the Estrogen Solubolizer. Let it sit for exactly 1 hour, no more, no less. After the hour, add 500ml of DISTILLED water. Let it sit for 10-15 min. It should look clumpy & filterable.


      Step 6: Filter the liquid by running it through another filter. Then add some distilled water through the filter. This is known as washing. All the white clumpy content should still be caught in the filter. Keep pouring distilled water through it to get rid of as much of the estrogen as possible. The more, the better.


      Step 7: Get the filter & take out all the white clumpy content.


      Step 8: Throw this into the oven to completely dry the compound. 2 hours at 165 degrees should be enough. Check the powder periodically. As soon as it is COMPLETELY dry, you're good to go. Here's what it should look like:


      Step 9: Drop the powder into the empty STERILE vial. (Sorry boys, no pic here) It should look like a sterile vial with all the powder resting at the bottom.

      Step 10: Add all the BA to the vial with the powder.

      Step 11: Add oil to the vial, but save about 2ml of oil in the syringe. Gently shake the vial.

      Step 12: Heat the mixture by putting the sealed vial in hot water for 10 minutes.

      Step 13: Draw mixture into large syringe, attach syringe filter (Whataman) and 18G needle (place another small needle in vial to vent) then press into sealed sterile vial repeating until conversion complete.

      Step 14: Take other syringe with 2ml oil, run through Whatman into solution.

      Step 15: You're done!!!! Here's what the final product should look like. 2 sterile vials of Test Prop.

          ecto -- you can wash all bottles in atibacterial soap -- clean out all bottles make sure no soap residue is left in the bottles -

          line a pan with foil and heat bottles in oven for one hour at 400 degrees - kills everything -- you can buy a pressure cooker to clean bottles aswell then heat in oven for 1 hour -

          wear gloves through process - clean everything around your work station

            Thanks BIGSCOTT! I would have thought that the bottles would crack or something at those temps but thats why I asked about this in the first place. All help really appreciated guys!!
