I train to powerlift, not bodybuilld.
It's been quite a while since I've done a cycle or even have been able to train my ass off in the gym. I split with the g/f of 6 years and have been able to get back to the basics and really focus on diet and training. Man, it has been awesome.
April of 08 I had major shoulder surgery. Totally blown subscapularis tendon, a pretty good labral tear and a heck of an impingement rubbing on the rotation. I was fixed up by a well known surgeon and rehabbed for a good 2 months.
It was January of 09 before I could seriously push myself again. I trained for 3 months getting myself back up to par, but really focusing on my diet. No extra fat, low fat food only, much more fresh fruits and vegetables. More grilling and absolutely no fast food of any kind. No junk foods, no candy.
I was able to get myself down to 210# at 5-11, 29 y/o, around 11 or 12% bodyfat (could see the 6 pack and more vascular than I ever have been).
In March, I was 210#, benching around 315#, squatting 315 for 4 or 6 reps and deadlifting 405# on a good day.
8 years ago - 155# body weight, Bench 115#MAX, didn't have a clue what a deadlift was and maybe a max of 200# on squats.
Last week (week 12 of week 16).........
500 mg's Test E / wk
50 mg's Winny day, usually 5 days a week
Bench Pressed 375# clean on Mon!
Attempted 385 on Friday and DAMN near had it. Bump with a finger and it went on up.
Deadlifted 530# on Tuesday.
Squatting 455 for reps of 4.
All of these numbers are RAW. I wear a belt on squats and deads over 405#.
My goal is to compete at a Nationals lifting competition at the end of the year and lift 1500# in 3 lifts!
Current bodyweight is around 216-218. Fat has went down and the muslce has packed on. My chest has grown nicely and the back has gotten wickedly strong.
I've been very impressed. It also helps that I've been back training with my original lifting buddy at a personal home gym with all of the hardcore powerlifting weights necessary. I go show off my gains in one of the local gyms every couple of weeks.
I have set 2 new PR's on Bench in the last month and close to another. 365, 375, and dang near 385 (in 1 week or less).
Deadlifts I have tied my all time raw PR, 530.
Deadlifts will come around in time, I'm moving up slowly.
But really, these ARE new records.... Previously I was always at a 225 to 235 body weight. I notice most of the gains in the back, chest, triceps, biceps and shoulders. I have been VERY pleased with the state of my shoulder post surgery. NO pain and it's not even a thought in the back of my head when pushing myself to seeing stars.
Anyhow.... Just saying hi. Any questions or comments, post them.
