steroids = the opposite of getting into the hall of fame.

this is pretty clear with any athlete that has used steroids. Olympics athletes etc.. they get stripped of their medals and banned from the sport. you do not get rewarded for using steroids. i really have no idea what you guys are thinking..

goes both ways - but with no cap baseball players have potential to make shit tons of $$$ - if McGuire is broke he's really strugglin cuz he made some serious bank. If you guys listen to ppl who can vote for hall of fame for baseball it's a real split with the whole "steroid era" - bary bonds is viewed by many voters as the best player to ever play and the cloud around the whole steroid deal is going sway votes - I'm just saying that a lot of the ppl with votes are just plain fed up with the fact for 20+ years some crazy talent got caught up in the whole era and now will probably never get voted in, McGuire has gotten what.. 22-25% votes each year, so 1/4 of these guys before him coming clean are on his side, you don't think any more will say "ok , he's finally just admitted it , it was an era , vote in on skill forget who was using what". Just my 2 cs

                    I disagree.

You're telling me that A-Rod, & Roger Clemens have no chance of getting into the HOF too? Because they all admitted to some sort of steroid use, too! Now, if none of them get in, then yes- I agree- he blew his chances. But, if one of them gets in that admittedly used PED, then all of them get it. Period.

And, apparently none of you watch SportCenter. But, McGuire just took a job as the Cardinals hitting coach. Well, let's see- what starts in just a month? Spring Training. He had to come clean before Spring Training started. 1) all of the hype & press would be handled there, and not near the start of the season or the Cardinals organization themselves. And 2) If he's going to be the hitting coach, and he is the homerun champion, then he has to be honest about his abilities, and wipe the slate clean prior to starting.

Not sure I believe him 100%, but he did tell Bob Costas on the MLB network that he only used them for injury. Regardless, when he was in the race to break the record, it was magical. And, anyone who watched him that season, and felt the magic & the energy, but curses him now is a hipocrite.

So, there was no monetary motivation for him to come clean. No book, no movie, no HOF nomination. And, to get into the HOF you need 75% of the vote. In past years, the most he's gotten is 23%- and that was BEFORE he came clean. Quite frankly, he didn't have to come out with it. He tried to do the commendable thing after carrying around all that regret.

Not sure why he would admit it now. He has bank so he doesnt need to write a book. He is now the Cardinals batting coach so Im sure he's getting paid very well. Strange.......

Well now the roaches come out of the woodwork. That faggot Jose Conseco is on Larry King tonight.:retard:

Ya to us it is stupid! but as you know I live in california right next to were McGuire played so we have all kinds of news coverage about it and my mom was telling me she read that it is to get in the hall of fame. I guess he had no chance in hell to get in so he is trying this angle. Everyone knew he did it maybe someone will feel sorry for him and say well he admitted it let him in.lol I doubt it but this is his angle. I guess its worth a try he wasnt getting in anyways.

As I stated before, his only motivation behind it is because he is starting as the Cardinals HITTING coach. He couldn't very well coach hitters on how to hit if he himself was under a bunch of scrutiny for his own capabilities.

THE HOF has nothing to do with why & when he decided to come clean.
